Effingham St. Anthony led Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg by nine points at halftime then kicked it into high gear with a 21-9 third period run and finished with an 85-55 victory in boys high school basketball action Friday evening.
The Bulldogs’ Keenan Griffith put in two three-pointers in the opening quarter 20-19 edge.
The lead stood at 39-30 at halftime as Griffith added on to his total with a trio of three-pointers and two free throws for 11 in the period. Miles Waldhoff chipped in with six.
Wyatt Wetherell scored six points and had 11 by halftime for the Hatchets.
St. Anthony then put the game away in the third period 21-9 run. Griffith continued to work hard with three baskets and two free throws for nine points.
Three players hit double figures for the Bulldogs. Griffith tallied 26 on eight field goals, six from beyond the arc, and four of five at the line. Waldhoff added 17 and Lauritzen 14.
Windsor/Stew-Stras had two players in double digits. Wetherell hit six field goals, three of those three-pointers, and six of eight at the line for 21. Tyler Vonderheide added 12.
St. Anthony won the junior varsity game, 53-26. Will Bierman led with 16. Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Jones with 11.
St. Anthony won a freshman/sophomore contest 51-35. Logan Gowin had 12 and Curtis Tingley 10. Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Holland with 17.

St. Elmo/Brownstown ran out to an 18-5 lead on Mulberry Grove and claimed a 57-31 victory Friday.
The Eagles held a 34-10 halftime lead. Four players finished with double figures. Benji Lowe was the leading scorer with 18 points on eight field goals and two free throws. Jayden Hughett chipped in with 11 while Graiden Wilhour and Bentley Sanders finished with 10 each.
Lowe also led the team in rebounds with nine, steals with four and blocks with four. G. Wilhour had four assists.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City played host to South Central in National Trail Conference play Friday and claimed a 58-38 victory.
The Bobcats moved into a 12-4 opening quarter lead and led 26-10 at halftime.
Griffin Vaughn hit eight field goals, two of those three-pointers, and five free throws to lead the winners. He finished with a double-double, 23 points and 10 rebounds. Clive Schlanser chipped in with 13.
South Central was led by Westin Neilson with 19 points on eight field goals, six from three-point range, and a free throw.

At Dieterich
Dieterich put together an 11-6 final quarter run and claimed a 39-36 victory over Cumberland Friday.
The Maroons edged out to a 10-9 opening quarter lead as Ezra Cook scored five points and Jackson Icenogle hit a three-pointer.
But the Pirates came back with a 15-10 second period to lead 24-20 at halftime. Reed Miller led the way with six points on four baskets while Chase Stewart chipped in with a three-pointer.
Dieterich then had a slight 8-6 third period to pull within 30-28 going into the final quarter. The Maroons’ Cook added five points and Icenogle and Brock Niemerg hit a three each in the decisive final period for the victory.
Cook connected on five field goals, two of those three-pointers, and was three of four at the line for 15 while Bohnhoff chipped in with 11.
Cumberland was led by Miller with 14 on seven field goals and Cameron Roedl with 12.

Malik Coy and Brayden Ray scored 20 points each as Neoga claimed a 68-55 victory over Moweaqua Central A&AM Friday.
The Indians edged out to a 14-10 opening quarter lead. Kaden Bryant scored six points while Trenton Ballinger and coy hit a three each.
The lead stood at 26-19 at halftime. Neoga then held off Central A&M in the third quarter with a slight 18-15 tally and finished with the victory.
Coy connected on six field goals, five of those from beyond the arc, and was three of four at the line for his 20 points. Ray’s 20 came on nine field goals and two of five at the line. Ballinger chipped in with 12 on four three-pointers and Bryant added 12 on six regular field goals.

Cooper McManaway hit nine field goals, four from three-point range, for 22 points. Parker Bell chipped in with 19 on eight field goals, three from beyond the arc. Kade Milleville had 13 points.
Shelbyville was led by Aiden Hardy with 21 and Owen Beyers with 19.
Altamont also won the junior varsity contest, 67-27.
Blake Berg scored 17 points while Nate Lurkins added 15 for Altamont.

At Ramsey
North Clay was a 96-31 winner over Ramsey in varsity action. The Cardinals improved to 13-6 on the season.
During the game, two milestones were reached for North Clay. Senior Cody Zimdars became the all-time leading scorer in North Clay history, boys or girls, passing NCHS Hall of Famer Ashley Harrington who finished with 1,721 career points in the class of 2008.
And, senior Kade Atwood scored his 1,000th career point.
In the junior varsity contest, North Clay won 56-27.
At Robinson
Newton fell to Mount Carmel in the Little Illini Conference Tournament Saturday.
The Golden Aces were 61-52 winners., running out to a 22-13 opening quarter lead and leading 28-17 at halftime.
Newton was led by Drake Wolf with 15 points on seven field goals, six coming from three-point range, and Kody Bergbower who also tallied 15 points on five field goals and five of five at the line. He scored 11 in the third quarter. Hayden Mulvey chipped in with 12.
In other games Lawrenceville beat Paris 60-44, Marshall won over Richland County 55-49 and Casey-Westfield beat Robinson 56-45.
Tonight’s games will have Paris against Richland County at 6 p.m. followed by Robinson meeting Newton at 7:30.
