Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of the Class 7-2A North Clay Regional with a 47-6 win over Stewardson-Strasburg Wednesday evening.
The Bullpups ran out to a 13-0 opening quarter lead and led 25-2 at halftime.
James Gilmore was the lone Bulldog player in double figures with 13 as 10 players scored. Gilmore tallied seven of the team’s 13 points in the opening quarter.
Nash Hoene added eight. St. Anthony improved to 21-1 on the season.
Ashmore led Stew-Stras with four points while Nichols added the other two. Stew-Stras finished the season with a 17-7 record.
St. Anthony now advances to its own Sectional scheduled for Monday, January 26 at 6 p.m. The Bullpups will play the winner of the Casey-Westfield Regional, either Dieterich or Casey-Westfield. Those two teams play tonight at 6 p.m.

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional
Altamont Lutheran is playing for the championship of the Sigel St. Michael Regional tonight.
Altamont Lutheran will meet Pana Sacred Heart at 6 p.m.
The winner of the regional advances to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional at Tower Hill and takes on the winner of the Jerseyville St. Francis Regional, Carrollton St. John who beat Madison 30-20 for that regional title.
Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional
Dieterich and Casey-Westfield square off tonight at 6 for the Casey-Westfield Regional championship.
The winner advances to the Casey-Westfield Sectional to meet the winner of the 2A North Clay Regional, Effingham St. Anthony.
Class 7-3A Marshall Regional
Teutopolis will go up against host Marshall tonight for the championship of the Class 7-3A Marshall Regional.
The winner will advance to the Teutopolis Sectional to face the winner of the Tuscola East Prairie Regional Monday, January 26 at 6 p.m.
Tolono Unity was the winner over Tuscola East Prairie, 37-16 in the Tuscola East Prairie Regional.
