Three more games are in the books for the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament.
Wednesday evening saw Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeat Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 49-28, Dieterich edge South Central 34-30 and Brownstown/St. Elmo beat Altamont 46-30.
In the opening game of the evening, CHBC edged ahead 13-8 in the opening quarter and led 21-14 at halftime. The second half was all CHBC as the Bobcats had a 28-14 run.
Lena Bowlin produced a 19 point game for the Bobcats, hitting nine field goals and a free throw. Meanwhile, Carrisa Wakefield provided the second part of the scoring punch with 17 points on seven field goals and three free throws. Ethel Stuckemeyer chipped in with 10 points.
Windsor/Stew-Stras did not have a player in double figures. Kendra Hayes led the way with nine points on three field goals, one a three-pointer and two of two at the line.
Dieterich edged South Central 34-30 in the second contest of the evening.
The Movin’ Maroons took a 6-4 opening quarter lead but South Central came back with a 10-3 second period run to lead 14-9 at halftime.
Dieterich got back on the court with a 25-16 second half for the win.
Only one player hit double figures for the Maroons. Addison Miller knocked in two three-pointers and was a perfect six of six at the line for 12. Callie Faller chipped in with seven points.
South Central was led by Bayle Brown with four field goals, one a three-pointer, for nine.
The final game of the evening, saw state-ranked Brownstown/St. Elmo winning by a 46-30 count over Altamont.
BSE trailed 11-9 after the first quarter but came back strong with a 15-5 run to lead 24-16 at halftime.
Dayana Haslett connected on seven field goals, two from beyond the arc, and one of two at the line to lead her winning team with 21 points. Madi Miller added 12.
Altamont was led by Ella Nelson with 18 points on two regular field goals, four three-pointers and two of two at the line.
Tonight’s games find North Clay against Neoga at 6 pm. in consolation bracket play and Effingham St. Anthony and Cumberland meeting at 7:30 p.m. for the right to advance to the championship game.
