Effingham edged out to a 7-4 opening quarter lead and led 23-10 at halftime. The Hearts went on for a 46-42 win in freshman/sophomore boys basketball action Tuesday.
Jenner Keyes led the Hearts with 11 points while while Bryce Hodges added 10.
Newton was led by Emmerich with 12 and Huber with 10.
