Effingham Sacred Heart claimed an eighth-grade boys basketball victory over Dieterich Thursday evening, 49-28.

The Shamrocks held a 21-11 halftime lead then had a 15-4 third quarter run.

Three players hit double figures. Bryce Hayes led with 19 while Jackson LaSarge added 11 and Ruben Jansen 10.

The Shamrocks are back in action Monday hosting Altamont Lutheran.

Dieterich was led by G. Lustig with nine points.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony ran out to an 11-3 opening quarter lead and went on for a 54-29 victory over Shelbyville in eighth-grade action Thursday evening.

The Bullpups led 28-15 at halftime and had a 12-point lead in the third quarter.

Two players finished in double figures. P. Phillips led with 16 while J. Having added 12.

In the seventh-grade game, St. Anthony was a 46-22 winner.

The Bullpups led 28-15 at halftime then had an 18-7 second half.

Nash Hoene was the lone player in double figures with 11 while James Dust added eight.

Effingham and Jasper County picked up a victory each Thursday evening.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade game, 28-23. Jasper County ran out to a 13-2 opening quarter lead then had to fight off Effingham in the second half.

Tristian Lingafelter led the winners with eight points. Cash Collins was the top rebounder and top passer while Tayden Sharrett was the top defender. Jasper County improved to 9-8.

Effingham was led by Noah Hamilton with 16.

In the eighth-grade game, Effingham won 43-21. The Mustangs held a 30-9 halftime lead.

Calvin Beck scored 13 for the winners while Deek Thompson added nine and Jared Klingler eight.

Jasper County was led by Jacob Guzman with 11 points. Trace Cornwell was the top rebounder, Alex Keller the top defender Jacob Guzman the top passer. The squad dropped to 7-10.

Neoga claimed two victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday evening.

Neoga was a 34-21 winner in seventh-grade play. Neoga ran out to a 24-8 halftime lead. Bright scored 15 to lead the winners.

CHBC was led by Colt Ondes with 11.

In the eighth-grade contest, Neoga edged CHBC 31-27.

CHBC held a 16-11 halftime lead and led 22-17 heading into the final quarter when Neoga rallied with a 14-5 run for the win.

Matusas led Neoga with 12 points while Nohren added 10.

CHBC was led by Lane Reed with 12.

Teutopolis and Stewardson-Strasburg each picked up a win Thursday evening.

T-town was a 58-23 winner in the seventh-grade game.

The Shoes ran out to a 20-6 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Bryson Meyer scored 13 while Dylan Deters added 12.

Stew-Stras led by Worman with nine as the team fell to 12-6.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras won 45-38. Stew-Stras took a 22-17 halftime lead then had a 17-12 third quarter run.

Pruemer scored 16 for the winners who remained unbeaten at 20-0 on the season.

T-town was led by Kason Meyer and Connor Althoff with nine each.

Altamont and Cumberland each won a contest in games played Thursday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Altamont captured a 40-28 win. Altamont moved into a 10-5 opening quarter lead and led 14-5 at halftime.

Altamont had three players hit double figures. Arnold led with 12 while Nelson and Bauer added 10 each.

Cumberland was led by Dittamore and Henderson with six each.

In eighth-grade action, Cumberland won 47-15. The winners held a 30-5 halftime lead.

Shonk led Cumberland in scoring with 10.

Altamont was led by Huston and Nelson with four each.

Sigel St. Michael claimed two victories over North Clay Thursday.

The Sharpshooters edged St. Michael 22-21 in seventh-grade play.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Michael was a 34-20 winner.

North Clay dropped to 3-13 on the season and will return to action Monday at Flora in the 2nd Annual Clay County Clash.
