CASEY — Effingham fell to Casey-Westfield in eighth-grade boys basketball action Tuesday, 39-35.
Effingham held a 15-7 opening quarter lead and led 19-14 at halftime and 30-25 going into the final quarter. Casey-Westfield came back with a 14-5 run for the victory.
Effingham was led by Bridges with 17 points.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Shelbyville split victories.
Shelbyville won the seventh-grade contest, 35-21. CHBC was led by Ondes with nine points.
CHBC then claimed the eighth-grade game, 22-11. Reed and Thull scored six points each for the Bobcats.

At Altamont
Altamont was a 57-38 winner over Ramsey in seventh-grade action Tuesday.
Altamont sped out to a 20-2 opening quarter lead and that was the game.
Four players hit double figures for the winners. Noah Pierce led with 16 points while Weston Nelson added 12 and Haydon Arnold and Caleb Bauer 10 each.

Dieterich was a winner in the seventh-grade contest while Stewardson-Strasburg claimed the eighth-grade game.
Dieterich jumped out to a 16-3 opening quarter lead and went on for a 46-30 win. Koester led the way with 18 points while Bohnhoff added nine.
Stew-Stras was led by Ashmore with eight.
In the eighth-grade game, Stew-Stras was a 48-22 winner. Stew-Stras held a 28-8 halftime lead.
Worman tallied 14 and Pruemer 10 for the winners.
Dieterich was led by Niemerg with 13.
