TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis edged out to a 14-13 opening quarter lead on Altamont and went on to finish with a 57-44 high school boys basketball victory Monday evening.
Five players scored in that opening quarter for the Shoes. Jake Probst hit a three-pointer while Gavin Buening connected on a field goal and a free throw. Isaac McWhorter put in two baskets.
Altamont’s Kade Milleville went on a run, connecting for nine points while Cooper McManaway added four.
The Shoes then went on a 16-8 second quarter surge to lead 30-22 at halftime. McWhorter put in a three and a two while Probst added his second three-pointer and Jason Kreke scored four.
T-town had a 27-23 second half for the winning margin.
Two players hit double figures for the Shoes. McWhorter put in six field goals, three from beyond the arc, for 15 points. Landyn Thoele added 10 on four field goals and two of two at the line.
Altamont was led by K. Milleville with 16 points on five field goals, two of those three-pointers and four of nine at the line. McManaway chipped in with 10 on three field goals and four of seven at the line.
The Indians dropped to 7-6 on the season.
T-town also claimed the junior varsity game 62-31. Kendal Mette scored 15 and Sam Probst 11 for T-town.
Altamont was led by Blake Berg with eight and Kaiden Wolff with seven. The Indians dropped to 7-6 on the season.

At Fairfield
Four players hit double figures as North Clay handed Fairfield a 66-57 loss Monday evening.
The opening quarter was Fairfield as the Mules moved into a 17-13 lead
Lucas Griffey connected on three field goals and was two of two at the line for eight to lead the Cardinals. Carder Walden scored three.
Then it was time for Mason Byers and Cody Zimdars to go on a tear. Byers hit two field goals and was four of four at the line for eight while Zimdars added seven on three field goals and a free throw.
The Cardinals pushed in 18 points in the third quarter to lead 47-44 and finished out strong at the free throw line in the final quarter with 10.
Byers led the way with 20 points on five field goals and a perfect 10 of 10 at the free throw line. Zimdars added 17 on six field goals and five of five at the line. Walden added 14 and Griffey 13.
The Cardinals connected on 27 of 34 free throws while Fairfield hit only three of 10.
