 Robinson Beats Altamont, Cumberland Wins, CHBC Falls In Girls H.S. Basketball

ROBINSON — Robinson High School played host to Altamont and captured a 55-37 victory in girls basketball action Saturday.

Altamont held an 11-7 opening quarter lead as Ella Nelson connected on a three-pointer and Alyssa Ruholl put in two baskets for four points.

But Robinson came roaring back. Leah Correll, who scored four points in the opening quarter, went on a rampage. Correll connected on four three-pointers and two regular baskets for 16 of the team’s 22 points and the Maroons held a 29-12 halftime lead.

The Maroons continued on with an 18-11 third quarter edge. This time it was Lillie McDonald who hit three baskets and two three-throws for eight of her team’s 18 points and the Maroons led 47-23.

Altamont came back with a 14-8 final quarter but couldn’t cut the lead down any further. Nelson hit two more three-pointers in the quarter.

Ruholl led Altamont with 11 points on five field goals and a free throw while Nelson added nine.

The Indians drop to 7-6 on the season and are back in action today against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

At Bethany

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City faced Okaw Valley and fell to the homestanders by a 56-49 count Saturday.

Okaw Valley ran out to a 21-9 opening quarter lead and never looked back in the win. Erin Harris scored 15 and Gabby Totten 13 for the winners.

Okaw Valley hit eight three-pointers in the contest led by Harris with four and Adrianna Brown with three.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City’s Lena Bowlin connected on six field goals and was seven of 11 at the line for 19 points while Carissa Wakefield also tallied 19 points on eight field goals, one from three-point range, and two of four at the line.

At Toledo

Cumberland ran out to a 35-12 opening quarter lead on Casey-Westfield and went on for a 60-29 victory Saturday.

The Pirates’ Jude Miller knocked in two regular baskets and two three-pointers in the opening quarter run for 10 points while Raegan Jones nailed a three-pointer.

In the second quarter, Miller continued on with 10 more points on four regular baskets and two free throws for 20 points at halftime.

Miller finished out with two more three-pointers and a regular basket in the third period for eight. She hit 11 field goals, four from three-point range, and was two of four at the line for a total of 28.

Also in double figures were Jade Carr with 15 and Alysa Dittamore with 10.
