 Brownstown/St. Elmo, Cumberland Square Off For Dieterich Girls Tourney Championship

DIETERICH — Brownstown/St. Elmo and Cumberland will square off for the championship of the Dieterich Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament after Friday and Saturday play.

Both teams finished up opening round play with a 3-0 record followed by Dieterich and Marshall with 2-1 marks, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville and Okaw Valley at 1-2 and Arcola and Ramsey at 0-3.

Dieterich opened the first game with a 55-32 win over Ramsey. Dieterich held a 32-12 halftime lead.

Three players finished in double figures for the Maroons. Addison Miller led with 14 while Callie Faller added 11 and Lena Goebel 10.

The second contest went to Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville over Arcola, 39-29.

Cumberland then claimed the third contest, 66-41 over Ramsey. Cumberland ran out to a 51-15 halftime lead.

Jude MIller and Alysa Dittamore provided the one-two scoring punch for the Pirates with 20 and 19 points respectively.

Brownstown/St. Elmo then defeated Arcola 60-16. Dayana Haslett scored 27 while Madi Miller added 12 and Addie Sasse 11.

Marshall won over OPH by a 63-25 tally.

Dieterich then downed Okaw Valley, 66-38, taking a 41-24 halftime lead.

The Maroons were led by Miller with 21 while L. Goebel added 14 and Faller 12.

In Saturday action, Okaw Valley edged Ramsey, 48-26 while Marshall won over Arcola, 64-31.

BSE then handed OPH a 61-26 loss. BSE held a 33-15 halftime lead and outscored OPH 18-6 in the third quarter.

Madi Miller scored 21 on 10 field goals and a free throw while Haslett had 16 and Danika Ramsey 12.

Cumberland downed Okaw Valley 52-25. Jade Carr scored 19 while Miller and Dittamore tallied 14 each.

BSE was a 78-47 winner over Marshall. Haslett hit 11 field goals that included three trifectas and four of five at the line for 29 points. Miller chipped in with 21 and Ramsey added 14.

The final game was a 64-48 win for Cumberland over Dieterich.

The Maroons held a 17-11 opening quarter before Cumberland came back to pull within 25-24 at halftime.

The Pirates then had a 40-23 second half run. Miller finished with 27 on 11 field goals, four from three-point range, and a free throw. Dittamore tallied 21.

Dieterich was led by Miller with 16 and Callie Faller with 10.

BSE and Cumberland will meet at 6 p.m. today for the championship. Dieterich faces Marshall for third place at 4. OPH and Okaw Valley met at 2:30 for fifth place and ARcola took on Ramsey at 1 for seventh place.
