Effingham St. Anthony was a winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball action at Goff Gym Monday evening.
In seventh-grade play, the Bullpups won 45-25 to remain unbeaten at 16-0 on the season.
St. Anthony edged out to a 10-7 opening quarter lead and led 19-15 at halftime.
The third quarter was the big run for the Bullpups as they outscored West Lincoln Broadwell 17-6. Nash Hoene tallied six points while James Dust added five. Brooks Niebrugge and Will Ludwig knocked in a three-pointer each.
Hoene led the way in scoring with 19 points on eight field goals and three of three at the line. Niebrugge chipped in with nine.
St. Anthony fell to West Lincoln Broadwell 46-17 in eighth-grade play.
Lincoln Broadwell went on a 15-3 opening quarter run and led 28-7 at halftime.
St. Anthony was led by P. Phillips, M. Schiedemantel and E. Bales with four points each. The Bullpups dropped to 8-8.

At Cowden
Stewardson-Strasburg came calling at Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and captured two victories Monday evening.
In seventh-grade play, Stew-Stras won 45-22. Stew-Stras edged out to a 14-12 halftime lead then had a 16-4 third quarter run and never looked back.
Ashmore led the way with 11 points while Rahn added 10 and Nichols nine.
CHBC was led by Luke Roadarmel with eight.
In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras claimed a 33-20 win and remained unbeaten at 8-0 in the National Trail Conference, 17-0 overall.
Stew-Stras edged ahead 8-6 in the opening quarter then went on a 12-2 second period run. CHBC came back with a slight 5-3 third quarter edge but Stew-Stras finished out 10-7 in the final period.
Pruremer led the winners with 17 points while Friese added nine.
CHBC was led by Ely Hoene with seven.

At Louisville
Cumberland came to town and won over North Clay in eighth-grade play, 56-34.
In the seventh-grade contest, North Clay was a 32-25 winner.
North Clay isn’t back in action until Monday against South Central at 6 p.m.
