Effingham captured an eighth-grade boys basketball victory over Hamilton County Saturday, 60-51.
Effingham ran out to a 28-8 opening quarter lead and Deek Thompson put in four baskets and two three-pointers for 25 points. Also in double figures was Justus Bridges with 14 points, 10 coming in the opening quarter. Peyton O’Dell chipped in nine points.

At Marshall
Teutopolis nabbed both games at Marshall during weekend play.
T-town was a 53-47 winner over Marshall in seventh-grade play. T-town led 28-23 at halftime. Marshall moved ahead 40-39 after three quarters but the Shoes had a 14-7 final quarter run for the victory.
Dillon Deters tallied 24 for the Shoes while Matthew Kocher added 11.
T-town then claimed a 61-33 victory in eighth-grade play.
The Shoes held a 26-11 halftime lead.
Two tallied in double figures as 10 players scored. Mason Giles finished with 17 and Connor Althoff 11.
