ARTHUR — Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will be playing for third place at the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights Holiday Basketball Classic.
In a game against the host ALAH squad Saturday, the Hatchets fell 40-37.
Windsor/Stew-Stras held a 15-14 opening quarter lead and Kendra Hayes hit three from beyond the arc, and was four of four at the line for all 15 points.
But ALAH came back with a slight 10-8 second period to pull ahead 24-23 at halftime. Hayes connected for four points.
Windsor/Stew-Stras held a 5-4 third period margin but ALAH came back with a 12- 9 final period to claim the victory.
Hayes led the way with 19 points on five field goals, three of those three-pointers, and six of six at the line.
In the second game of the day, the Hatchets defeated Decatur Eisenhower 57-42.
Windsor/Stew-Stras ran out to a 21-13 opening quarter lead. Cameron Carey connected on two baskets and two free throws for six points while Clarissa Johnson hit two from beyond the arc for six and Kendra Hayes put in a basket and a three-pointer for five.
The lead went to 34-20 at halftime as Lauren Longwell and Hayes put in a basket and two free throws each.
Windsor/Stew-Stras held a 46-28 lead in the third period.
Three players hit double figures for the Hatchets. Hayes led the way with four field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of five at the line for 12. Carey and Claire Holland scored 11 each.
In other games Friday, ALAH won over Eisenhower 38-34, Rantoul bounced Heritage 62-48 and ACS defeated Unity Christian 44-38.
In Saturday games, Heritage beat ACS 52-43, Rantoul edged Unity 56-51, Heritage downed Unity Christian 52-43, Rantoul won over ACS 53-51, ALAH beat Chrisman 42-22 and no score reported on Eisenhower vs. Chrisman.
Windsor/Stew-Stras will take on Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 7:30 p.m. today for third place.

At Effingham
Effingham played host to Mahomet-Seymour and was a 46-30 winner Friday.
The Hearts ran out to a 15-8 opening quarter lead. Averie Wolfe hit two three-pointers and Tessa Raddatz had a three-pointer and a two-pointer for five.
Wolfe added onto her total with three two-pointers and led the Hearts with 12 points at halftime.
Drew Weis scored six in the second half for the Hearts while Wolfe hit another three-pointers. EHS had a 22-19 second half edge.
Wolfe was the lone EHS players in double figures with 15 on six of eight field goals . Alyssa Martin, Weis and McKenzie Love finished with eight points each.

Teutopolis handed Paris a 55-36 loss in a game contested on Saturday.
The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 15-10 opening quarter lead as Kelsey Niemerg put in four baskets for eight points while Malea Helmink added five.
The Shoes led 24-18 at halftime.
T-town then had a 12-9 third period run as Anna Probst hit a three-pointer and regular basket for five.
The Shoes finished out with a 19-9 final period.
Niemerg tallied 18 points on eight field goals and two of two at the line. An. Probst added 10.
Helmink led in rebounds with seven.
