MARTINSVILLE — Cumberland High School ran out to a 19-5 opening quarter lead and that was the game as the Pirates won 57-29 in girls basketball Wednesday.
Jude Miller headed the Pirates off in the right direction with three opening quarter baskets and four of five at the line for 10 points. Raegan Jones put in a three-pointer and Cumberland held a 19-5 lead.
The Pirates pushed that lead to 43-13 at halftime. Alysa Dittamore hit four baskets and a free throw for nine while Jade Carr nailed two three-pointers and Miller added six more points.
The Pirates had a 14-6 third period.
Cumberland finished with three players in double figures. Miller led the way with seven field goals, one from three-point range, and six of seven at the line for 21. Dittamore added 17 and Carr 10.
The Pirates finished with five three-pointers and hit 10 of 13 from the free throw line.
Martinsville was led by Charity Hammond with 10 points.
