HAVANA — Dieterich Junior High School dropped a loss at the Class 8-2A Girls State Basketball Tournament Tuesday evening at Havana Junior High School.
Springfield Christian ran out to a 21-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back in beating Dieterich, 45-27.
Dieterich was led by Emery Bill with 13 points on five field goals, that included one three-pointer, and two of four at the line.
In the second contest, Mt. Sterling Brown County defeated Glasford Illini Bluffs 41-32.
Dieterich drops into the third place contest with a 23-3 record and will face Glasford Illini Bluffs (20-2) at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Springfield Christian (21-3) and Mt. Sterling Brown County (25-2) will meet for the State championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
