The Effingham Athletic Department runs an Athlete of the Month program each month. Athletes are nominated by head coaches and then voted on by all coaches. Winners receive recognition and a Treign Athlete of the Month shirt. Nomination criteria is as follows: Stats, Accomplishments, Character, Coachability, Leadership and Sportsmanship

Miley Wilson – JH Girls Basketball (8th Grade)

Miley has established herself as our team’s most reliable rebounder and sets the tone for the physical, high-energy style of basketball we strive to play. She regularly takes on the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s tallest player, and even without official statistics, it’s clear she consistently wins the battle on the boards.

She is also one of our most improved players this season. Miley earned a spot in the starting lineup early on and has continued to elevate her game. She has become a dependable scorer in the paint, averaging roughly four points per game, many of which come from tenacious offensive rebounds.

Miley brings a positive attitude to practice every single day and approaches each session with a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to grow. I’m not sure I’ve ever coached a player with a more consistently upbeat and team-focused mindset.

Beyond her contributions on the court, Miley excels in the classroom as a High Honor Roll student, embodying what it means to be a true student-athlete. — Coach Aaron Witges

Peyton O’Dell- JH Boys Basketball (8th Grade)

He has been our MVP through the first 8 games. He is coachable, shows good leadership qualities. He is a good listener and when things have went South, he was a lone bright light at times. — Coach Rod Wiethop
