The Effingham Athletic Department runs an Athlete of the Month program every month. Athletes are nominated by coaches based upon the following criteria: Stats. Accomplishments, Character, Coachability, Leadership and Sportsmanship.
Nominations are then sent out to all high school coaches to vote on a winner. There is one male and one female winner each month. Winners receive a Treign Athlete of the Month shirt and get recognition via announcements and local media.
November 2025 Winners
Alyssa Martin, Sr. — Girls Basketball
“Alyssa has helped lead the hearts to a 6-1 record so far this season. She is averaging 16 points per game, and 6 rebounds. She just recently scored her 1,000 th pont versus Mattoon this past week. She is a captain that leads by example of the court. She is an excellent student and puts all of her effort into everything she does.” — Coach Jeff Schafer
Jenner Pals, Soph. — Boys Basketball
“Jenner has been our leading scorer and rebounder through our first 5 games of the season. He was recently named to the All Tournament Team at the St. Anthony Thanksgiving tournament. Jenner hit some big shots and got some big rebounds in our win over St. Anthony at the Thanksgiving tournament. Jenner works hard to improve his all-around game and has a very high ceiling on the type of player he can become.” — Coach Mack Thompson
