SIGEL — Dieterich, Neoga, St. Elmo/Brownstown and Stewardson-Strasburg advanced in winner bracket play of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament during the weekend.
In Friday play, CHBC won over North Clay 30-12. CHBC as led by Elliot Thull with nine points and Tyce Kircher with eight.
North Clay was led by Cade and Keller with four each.
The second game went to Neoga over Effingham Sacred Heart, 36-8.
Game three went to Altamont against Windsor, 48-27. Altamont ran out to a 12-4 opening quarter lead and neve looked back.
Noah Pierce scored 16 and Hayden Arnold 10 for the winners.
The final game Friday was Sigel St. Michael winning over Cumberland, 38-24.
In Saturday action, Dieterich defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 44-19. Dieterich ran out to an 18-4 opening quarter lead. CHBC came back with a 10-7 run to trail 25-14 at halftime.
Dieterich then put the game away with a 13-2 third quarter.
Brock Koester led Dieterich with 17 points while Chase Bohnhoff added 14.
CHBC was led by Kircher with 12.
In game two, Neoga won over South Central. Score listed as 37-37 for both teams.
In the seventh grade, St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Altamont, 45-25.
Altamont led 19-18 at halftime. SEB then came back in the second half with a 7-5 third quarter and had a 20-1 final period run.
Weston Nelson led Altamont with 14.
Stewardson-Strasburg then finished the day with a 22-17 win over Sigel St. Michael.
The two teams were tied at 6-6 before Stew-Stras moved ahead 14-10 at halftime. Both teams scored three in the third quarter and Stew-Stras had a slight 5-4 edge in the final period.
Ashmore scored 12 for the winners.
Deters led St. Michael with eight.
The tournament continues today. CHBC and South Central meet at 6:45 p.m. followed by Dieterich against Neoga at 8.
