PANA — Neoga won the championship of the Class 7-1A Pana Sacred Heart Regional in girls junior high basketball Monday evening.
Neoga trailed Mattoon St. John’s 13-8 at halftime and 21-16 going into the final quarter.
That’s when Neoga came to life, outscoring St. John’s 10-4 and pulling out the 26-25 victory. Nora Hartke scored five points in the quarter, hitting a regular basket, a three-pointer and a free throw. Aubrey Whitaker and Izzy McNeal scored a basket each.
Hartke finished with 12 points for the winners who advance to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional December 3 and will face the winner of the Jerseyville St. Francis Regional. That will be either Jerseyville St. Francis or Carrollton St. Johns. Those two teams play Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional
Paris Crestwood handed Stewardson-Strasburg a 47-5 loss in the first game of the evening at the Casey-Westfield Regional.
In the second contest, Casey-Westfield won over Cumberland, 24-17.
Paris Crestwood and Casey-Westfield will mete Wednesday for the regional championship at 6 p.m.
Class 7-2A North Clay Regional
Albion ended Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City’s stay in the North Clay Regional Monday evening.
Albion was a 42-7 winner.
In the second contest, South Central defeated Dieterich, 32-11.
Dieterich was led by Addy Purcell with four points and seven rebounds. Ali Koester led in steals with three.
South Central advances to face Albion at 5:30 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Regional
Teutopolis was a winner in its own regional Monday evening.
The Wooden Shoes won over Jasper County by a 30-2 tally.
In the second contest, Red Hill edged Robinson Nuttall, 32-30.
Teutopolis now meets Red Hill at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional championship.
Class 7-4A Mount Zion Regional
Effingham saw its season come a close in the Mount Zion Regional Monday evening.
Mount Zion ran out to an 11-2 opening quarter lead then had that exact same 11-2 amount in the second period to lead 22-4 at halftime.
Emery Gibbs led Mount Zion with nine points while Finley Stock added seven.
Effingham was led by Kynlie Rohr, Alivia Lauritzen and Sophia Wiedman with four points each.
In the second contest, Taylorville was a 30-25 winner over Mattoon.
Mount Zion and Taylorville will now meet for the regional championship today at 5 p.m.
