 Junior High Boys Basketball Results — Nov. 21-22

Effingham St. Anthony split victories in its own junior high boys basketball shootout Saturday.

The Bullpups defeated Greenville, 38-32.

The two teams were tied at 8-8 after the first quarter. Greenville moved ahead 15-12 at halftime. But St. Anthony came back with a 13-9 third quarter and went on for the victory.

P. Phillips led the Bullpups with 14 points while J. Having added 13.

Salem edged St. Anthony by a 49-44 tally.

Salem ran out to a 16-6 opening quarter lead but St. Anthony came back within four, 25-21 at halftime. The Bullpups then outscored Salem 13-5 to lead 34-30 going into the final quarter.

But Salem came back with a 19-10 final period for the victory.

Phillips led St. Anthony with 14 points while Having added 12 and R. Schumacher 10.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed two victories during weekend action.

Stew-Stras won both games over Altamont in Friday competition.

Stew-Stras claimed the seventh-grad contest, 33-14, taking a 19-6 opening half lead.

Ashmore scored 14 for the winners. Altamont was led by Pierce with six.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras ran out to a 19-1 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 48-18 victory.

Stew-Stras was led by Richter with 13 points as nine players scored in the contest.

Altamont was led by Neu with 12 points.

Stew-Stras is 3-0 in National Trail Conference play, 4-3 overall in seventh grade action and 3-0 in the NTC and 9-0 overall in eighth-grade play.

In Saturday play, Stew-Stras defeated South Central in both games.

In the Saturday contests against South Central at Kinmundy, Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade game, 32-15.

Stew-Stras ran out to an 21-12 halftime lead.

Ashmore scored 17 to lead the winners.

South Central was led by Guerrttaz with six.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras led 14-1 after the opening quarter and tallied a 47-23 victory.

Stew-Stras led 23-12 at halftime and had a 10-4 third quarter run.

Pruemer scored 15 and Howe 10 for the winners.

Smith led South Central with 15.
