The girls seventh-grade basketball regionals got underway Saturday. Here are the results.
Class 7-1A Pana Sacred Heart
Neoga and Mattoon St. John’s will square off for the championship of this regional.
Sigel St. Michael won the opening contest over Findlay Okaw Valley, 23-15. Mattoon St. John’s ended Effingham Sacred Heart’s season, 23-15 and Pana Sacred Heart bounced Ramsey 31-9.
In the second round, Neoga defeated Sigel St. Michael 27-20. Neoga edged out to a 7-4 opening quarter lead on the Sharpshooters.
Neoga held a 13-7 halftime lead. Neoga then had a 7-2 third quarter run and had to hold off St. Michael in the final quarter.
Nora Hartke led the winners with 16 points while Quincy Taylor added six.
St. Michael was led by Walk and Krampe with eight points each.
Mattoon St. John’s won over Pana Sacred Heart, 22-13.
Neoga will now meet Mattoon St. John’s at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional
Stewardson-Strasburg and Casey-Westfield were opening round winners in the Casey-Westfield Regional Saturday.
Stew-Stras defeated Effingham St. Anthony, 32-22 and Casey-Westfield won over Arcola 34-6.
Stew-Stras edged out to a 6-4 opening quarter lead on the Bullpups and held a 16-8 halftime lead.
The two teams played to a 4-4 third quarter before Stew-Stras had a 12-11 final quarter.
Lela Johnson led the winners with 10 points while Grace Storm added nine.
St. Anthony was led by E. Johnson with nine and M. Niebrugge with eight.
Stew-Stras advances to meet Paris Crestwood at 6 p.m. today while Cumberland takes on Casey-Westfield at 7.
The winners advance to the championship Wednesday.

Class 7-2A North Clay Regional
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City edged Brownstown/St. Elmo, 26-24 in the opening contest Saturday.
The second game was also a one-pointer as Dieterich edged Altamont, 15-14.
Dieterich took a 6-3 opening quarter lead but Altamont scored the only point in the second period. Dieterich then added on seven points in the third period to lead 13-7. Altamont mounted a comeback with a 7-2 final period run only to fall short.
Dieterich was led by Ali Koester with seven points and Alivia Icenogle with five. Koester also led in rebounds with 10, assists with one and steals with seven.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City now meets Albion at 5 p.m. today while South Central and Dieterich square off at 6:15 p.m.
The winners advance to the regional championship Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Class 7-2A North Clay Regional

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Regional
Jasper County was a 30-17 winner over Lawrenceville Parkview in the opener.
In the second game, Red Hill (Bridgeport) downed Marshall 20-18.
Teutopolis will now take on Jasper County at 6 p.m. today while Robinson Nuttall and Red Hill square off at 7:15.
The winners will meet Wednesday for the regional championship.
Class 7-3A Mount Zion Regional
Effingham edged Rochester 24-22 in the opening game of this regional Saturday.
The Mustangs moved into a 9-5 opening quarter lead but Rochester came back with a 6-1 second period to lead 11-10 at halftime.
Effingham then went on an 8-5 third quarter run to move ahead 18-16 and held off Rochester in the final quarter as both teams scored six.
Kynlie Rohr led the way with nine points for the Mustangs while Anna Gouchenouer added six.
Mattoon easily downed Stephen Decatur 47-7.
The third contest went to Taylorville over Charleston 38-7.
Effingham will now meet Mount Zion at 5 p.m. today while Mattoon and Taylorville square off at 6:15 p.m.
The winners meet Tuesday for the regional championship.
