Effingham St. Anthony and Taylorville split junior high boys basketball victories Wednesday evening.
The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game, 48-33. St. Anthony held a 29-11 halftime lead.
Henry Bierman led nine players in scoring with nine. James Gilmore and Ryan Wohltman scored eight each.
The seventh-grade Bullpups improved to 3-0 on the season.
In eighth-grade action, Taylorville pulled out a 33-30 victory over the Bullpups.
Taylorville edged out to a 9-7 opening quarter lead but St. Anthony came back to move into a 14-11 halftime lead.
Taylorville then had a 9-7 third quarter to pull within 21-20 and then finished strong with a 13-9 final period.
P. Phillips led St. Anthony with 10 points.
