Effingham St. Anthony claimed both girls junior high basketball victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday evening.
The Bullpups won in seventh-grade play, 25-20.
CHBC edged out to a 6-4 opening quarter lead and led 10-8 at halftime. The Bobcats still led 16-14 going into the final quarter. St. Anthony rallied with a 4-2 run to tie the score at 18-18, sending the contest into overtime.
In the overtime period, St. Anthony had a 7-2 run for the victory. N. Brumleve connected on a three-pointer while I. McDonald and E. Johnson scored a basket each.
Johnson finished with 10 points to lead St. Anthony.
CHBC was led by Wheeler with seven.
In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony was a 37-21 winner. The Bullpups led 22-18 at halftime before taking off with a 23-9 second half.
N. Semple led the winners with 14 points, nine coming in the final quarter behind two three-pointers, a regular basket and a free throw.
CHBC was led by Goeckner with 10.

At Effingham
Effingham and North Clay split victories in Monday evening play.
The Mustangs were 25-13 winners in seventh-grade action over Brownstown/St. Elmo.
Effingham held an 8-6 halftime lead then had a 17-7 second half.
Alivia Lauritzen led the way with 11 points.
In eighth-grade play, North Clay edged Effingham, 34-33.
North Clay held an 11-10 opening quarter lead but Effingham came roaring back with an 11-2 second period to lead 21-13 at halftime. However, North Clay turned the tables on the Mustangs with a 12-4 third period run and then held on with a 9-8 final quarter for the one point victory.
Sparks led North Clay with 11 points.
Effingham was led by Cloie Bailey with 11 points.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Okaw Valley in seventh-grade action Monday evening.
WSS ran out to a 10-2 opening quarter lead then held off Okaw Valley over the next three quarters for a 22-19 victory.
Barnard led the way with nine points as the team improved to 7-7.
There was no eighth-grade game due to lack of players on Okaw Valley team.

At Dieterich
Dieterich and Jasper County split victories Monday evening.
Jasper County was a 28-16 winner in the seventh-grade game.
Jasper County ran out to an 8-0 opening quarter lead then had a 10-5 final quarter.
Leading Dieterich were Makayla Meinhart with six points and Alivia Icenogle with five. Ali Koester had 10 rebounds and three steals.
In eighth-grade play, Dieterich was a 32-25 winner.
Jasper County held a 10-4 opening quarter lead and led 16-10 at halftime. Dieterich came back with a 22-10 second half to claim the win.
Emery Bill tallied 13 points for the winners. Bill had three rebounds along with Lydia Kreke, Emma Williams and Mackenzie Roedl. Bill led in steals with four.

Teutopolis claimed both seventh- and eighth-grade victories over Paris Mayo Tuesday evening.
The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade game, 29-7, taking a 13-3 halftime lead and outscoring Mayo 12-2 in the third quarter.
L. Ruholl and P. Ruholl led T-town with eight points each as the Shoes improved to 18-1.
In eighth-grade action, T-town ran out to a 23-5 lead at halftime and went on for a 39-12 victory.
Zerrusen scored 15 and Dennis 12 for the Shoes who are now 17-2 on the season.
