BEECHER CITY — South Central and Sigel St. Michael claimed victories in Friday’s National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament.

South Central was a 21-16 winner over Windsor/Stewardson. The winners were led by Skylar Webster with 14.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Izzy Manhart with 12.

In the second contest, Sigel St. Michael defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 27-23.

The Sharpshooters held a 16-13 halftime lead then had an 11-10 second half.

Brianna Niebrugge scored 21 for the winners.

CHBC was led by Elaina Thompson, Halee Goeckner and Harper Collins with eight each.

In Saturday’s games, Sigel St. Michael was the champion with a 32-27 win over Neoga.

Neoga held an 11-8 opening quarter lead but St. Michael came back to move ahead 20-18 at halftime. St. Michael kept the pressure on with a 7-5 third quarter and finished out with the victory.

Niebrugge scored 11 and Taylor Monroe 10 for the winners.

Neoga was led by Bliss Bear with 16.

In the third place contest, Dieterich won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 39-16.

Dieterich ran out to a 25-8 halftime lead and never looked back.

Mya Ohnesorge was the lone player in double figures with 10 for the winners.

CHBC was led by Valentian Doty and Elli Wheeler with four each.

The consolation championship went to South Central over North Clay 37-21.

South Central moved into a 23-4 halftime lead and held off North Clay in the second half.

The winners were led by Webster with 25 and Claire Chasteen with 10.

Kayla McGuire led North Clay with seven.

At Effingham

Effingham hosted a round robin Saturday with Teutopolis and Mount Zion.

The seventh-grade Mustangs fell to Teutopolis 31-14. Mollie Niemerg led Effingham with five. Teutopolis was led by Schmidt with six.

Mount Zion defeated Effingham 30-24. Lauritzen led the Mustangs with 11.

T-town was a 38-24 winner over Mount Zion. Mette scored 11 and Schmidt 10 for the Shoes.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham lost to Teutopolis 48-12. Bierman and Barnhad had four points each for the Mustangs. T-town was led by Meyer with 13 and Dennis with 10.

Mount Zion downed the Mustangs 49-20. Bierman and Bailey led Effingham with four points.

T-town was a 27-5 winner over Mount Zion. Dennis scored nine and Meyer eight for the Shoes.
