 Junior High Girls Basketball Results — Oct. 20

TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis handily won both the seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball games over Sigel St. Michael Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes claimed a 42-18 victory in the seventh-grade contest to improve to 10-1 on the season.

Schmidt tallied 11 for the winners while Mette added nine.

In eighth-grade play, T-town won 54-26. The Shoes ran out to a 20-6 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Zerrusen scored 22 for the winners while Meyer added 10 as the Shoes improved to 9-2.

B. Niebrugge led St. Michael with 21.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner in both games against Mulberry Grove Monday evening.

CHBC won the seventh-grade game, 18-11. CHBC led 7-2 at halftime then had to hold off a challenge by Mulberry Grove in the second half.

Maycee Robertson led the winners with seven points. CHBC is now 6-3.

In the eighth-grade game, CHBC won easily 39-6.

Elaina Thompson led the winners with 14 points as they improved to 8-2.

At Dieterich

Dieterich played host to Effingham St. Anthony and handed the Bullpups a loss in both games Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Dieterich was 31-14 winner. Dieterich ran out to a 19-9 halftime lead and never looked back.

Makayla Meinhart led Dieterich with 10 points. Ali Koester had nine rebounds. Alivia Icenogle led in assists with three and steals with five.

St. Anthony was led by M. Verdeyen with eight.

In eighth-grade play, Dieterich claimed a 37-25 victory.

Dieterich’s Mya Ohnesorge tallied 16 points as the Roadrunners won over St. Anthony 37-25.

Dieterich held an 18-12 halftime lead then had a 19-13 second half run.

Lydia Kreke contributed eight points to the winning cause. She led the team in rebounds with 11. Emery Bill had four steals.

St. Anthony was led by Schultz with 10 points.

Neoga played host to Okaw Valley and went on runs to claim big-scoring victories Monday evening.

Neoga was a 30-17 winner in seventh-grade action. Okaw Valley actually held an 8-6 opening quarter lead but Neoga came roaring back to put together a 24-9 run over the next three quarters.

Nora Hartke led the winners with 17 points.

In eighth-grade action, Neoga ripped out to a 19-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 47-10 win.

Bliss Bear scored 30 points for the winners while Kinsey Bell added nine.

Effingham and Paris Mayo split victories Monday evening.

The Mustangs lost in the seventh-grade game, 36-19.

Paris Mayo stepped out to a 12-5 opening quarter lead and led 27-9 at halftime.

Effingham was led by Alivia Lauritzen and Sophie Wiedman with six points each. The Mustangs drop to 2-4 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham won 28-16.

The Mustangs held a 13-4 halftime lead.

Cloie Bailey scored eight for the winners while Arabella Barnhart added seven.
