Altamont and Effingham St. Anthony split victories in junior high girls basketball competition Monday.

Altamont was a 17-11 winner in seventh-grade play. The winners led 10-6 at halftime then had a 7-5 second half run.

McClelland led the way with five points.

St. Anthony was led by Johnson with six.

In the eighth-grade contest, the Bullpups took a 22-6 halftime lead and never looked back.

Schultz led the way for the Bullpups with 14 points and Griffith chipped in with nine.

Altamont was led by Teasley with eight points.

At Sigel

Effingham was a winner in seventh-grade play while Sigel St. Michael captured the eighth-grade contest Monday.

The Mustangs won 30-18, taking a 22-10 halftime lead. Anna Gouchenouer led the way in scoring with 12 points.

The Sharpshooters were led by Caraline Drake with 13 points.

In eighth-grade action, the Sharpshooters ran out to a 24-17 halftime lead then had a 24-6 second half run for a 48-23 victory.

Brianna Niebrugge led the winners with a whopping 42 points.

Effingham was led by Kloey Bierman with 10.

At Sigel

At Strasburg

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed two victories over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday evening.

CHBC trailed Windsor/Stew-Stras 10-8 at halftime but came back with a 17-10 second half for a 25-20 win.

The Bobcats were led by Maycee Robertson with eight points and Elli Wheeler with seven.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Barnhard with eight points.

In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC tallied a 24-14 victory.

The Bobcats led 16-6 at halftime and never looked back. Reece Vaughn led the way with 10 points.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Morris with six.

“The seventh-grade girls played hard and held off Windsor/Stew-Stras as they were trying to inch their way back into the lead. In eighth-grade play, the girls came out strong. Even though it got a little shaky in the second half, they gained their composure and were still able to gain on the lead a little bit.”

North Clay edged South Central in junior high basketball, 36-35 Monday.

North Clay is now 1-0 in the Junior National Trail Conference and overall.

The winners will be back in action today at Teutopolis.
