 Effingham, St. Anthony, CHBC Claim Friday Baseball Wins

FLORA — The bottom of the lineup carried Effingham High School past Flora in baseball action Friday, 12-5. Keegan Koester, Max Seachrist and Wyatt Hayes combined for four of the team’s eight in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in three.

The Hearts got on the board in the top of third inning after Andrew Wagoner singled, scoring a run, Colton Webb doubled, scoring two runs and Max Flack hit a sacrifice fly, scoring a run.

EHS then tallied seven runs in the fifth. Brody Boehm singled, scoring a run, Seachrist singled, scoring a run, Koester singled, scoring two runs and Wagoner singled, scoring three runs.

Seachrist earned the win for the Hearts. He gave up five hits and no runs over three innings, striking out two and walking none.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony jumped on board in the first inning and went on to beat Belleville East, 7-4 in a Friday contest.

Braddy Hatton tossed a one-hitter for the win on the mound. He gave up two walks and struck out three.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs put together seven hits led by Aidan Lauritzen with a double and three RBI, Hatton with two singles, Samuel Link with a single and two RBI and Will Fearday and Henry Brent with a single and an RBI each.

At Cowden

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied an 8-5 victory over National Trail Conference opponent Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Friday.

The Hatchets stepped out to a 4-1 opening inning lead and led 6-3 after five innings. The two teams tallied two runs each in the sixth.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had an 11-hit attack led by Koy Morris with two singles, a double and three RBI. Blayzz Verdeyen added three singles and an RBI.

Branson Tingley was the winning pitcher.

CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with a single, home run and an RBI and Blake Mueller with a double.

Sullivan blanked Neoga by an 8-0 count in Friday play.

The two teams went through three scoreless innings before Sullivan tallied two in the fourth then tacked on three in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Neoga finished with six hits led by Landon Titus with two singles. Colin Blazich, Matt Propst, Malik Coy and Cayden Hakman had a single each.
