Effingham St. Anthony played host to Effingham in junior varsity baseball action Wednesday and came out a 7-5 winner.
The Hearts moved into a 2-0 lead in the third inning and pushed that to 3-0 in the fourth and 5-0 in the top of the fifth.
But the Bulldogs started a comeback with two in the bottom of the fifth then moved ahead with five runs in the sixth.
St. Anthony finished with six hits and six errors. Conner Storm had a double and two RBI while Blake Verdeyen had a double and an RBI. Curtis Tingley finished with two singles and an RBI and Jonny Gannaway a single and an RBI.
James Trupiano was the winning pitcher. He came on in relief in the fourth inning and gave up three runs on three hits, one walk and struck out two.
Effingham outhit the Bulldogs by a slight 7-6 count. Luke Harper had a double and an RBI while TJ Raddatz and Hank Nelson had two singles each. Wernsing added a single and an RBI.
