PARIS — Dieterich High School took the early lead in high school baseball action and then had to come back to capture a 9-8 victory over Paris Thursday.
The Maroons pushed into a 2-0 opening inning lead and tacked on two more to lead 4-0 after two innings.
The Tigers mounted a comeback with two runs in the third and moved ahead 7-4 in the fourth inning.
Both teams scored a run in the fifth before Dieterich tied the score at 8-8 in the sixth. Neither team scored in the seventh and that sent the game into the extra inning where Dieterich won.
Both teams had 10 hits. Mason Lidy finished with two singles, a double and drove in a run while Bryce Bohnhoff had two singles and an RBI and Andrew Hall a single and two RBI. Dominic Ashley added a single and two RBI while Alex Schottman finished with an RBI.
Schottman picked up the victory on the mound. He went the final four innings, allowing one run, three hits while striking out four.

At Arthur
Altamont’s comeback bid in the seventh inning fell a run short as the Indians dropped a 7-6 decision to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Thursday.
Altamont took a 1-0 lead in the second and added on four more runs in the third. ALAH dented the plate in the fourth with a run then moved ahead 7-5 in the fifth. Altamont’s comeback in the top of the seventh fell a run short.
ALAH had 10 hits and was aided by two Altamont errors.
Brayden Elam hit a solo home run while Kade Milleville had two doubles. Blake Berg finished with a double and an RBI and Kaiden Wolff and Will Reardon had a single and an RBI each. Zaine Miller and Parker Bell had an RBI each.

Richland County, Olney came to town and edged Cumberland by an 8-7 count Thursday.
The two teams played to a 3-3 opening inning tie before Richland County moved ahead 4-3 in the second. Richland County held a 6-4 lead in the fourth then tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh to lead 8-4 going into the bottom of the seventh.
Cumberland came roaring back with three runs in the bottom of the frame, only to fall short.
Reed Miller led the way with a single and two RBI while M. Miller and Lance Lock had a single and an RBI each.

At Triad
Effingham traveled to Troy to face Triad and fell to the homestanders by a 14-0 count in five innings via the 10-run rule Thursday.
Triad moved ahead 1-0 in the first inning, then added five runs in the second, one in the third and finished with seven in the fourth to end the game.
The Hearts had three hits led by Jude Traub and Carter Braddy with a double each. Max Flack added a single as the other hit.
Keegan Seipp had a single, home run and three RBI for Triad while August Bugger had a single, two doubles and an RBI.
