Effingham St. Anthony, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, North Clay and Altamont picked up victories in the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament Monday.
The Bulldogs handed South Central a 5-1 loss.
The two teams went scoreless in the opening two innings before the Bulldogs broke loose, scoring three runs in the third. South Central scored a run in the top of the sixth before St. Anthony tallied two more in the bottom of the frame.
Both teams had six hits. Aiden Lauritzen led St. Anthony with a home run and two RBI while Charley Spour added a triple and an RBI. Blake Verdeyen finished with a single and two RBI and Xander Beals two singles.
South Central was led by Colton Tockstein with two singles and an RBI and Hudson Moore with two singles.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg handed Dieterich a 12-8 loss.
The Hatchets took a 2-0 opening inning lead and held off Dieterich in the sixth inning.
Windsor/Stew-Stras held a 7-1 lead after four innings then pushed across three more runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth for a 12-1 lead. Dieterich mounted a comeback, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the eighth but fell short.
The Hatchets finished with 10 hits led by Carter Verdeyen with a single, triple and one RBI, Seth Rincker with two singles and two RBI, Jackson Gurgel with a double and an RBI, Parker Duncan with two singles and Wyatt Wetherell with a single and two RBI,
Dieterich outhit WSS by a 12-10 count. Bryce Bohnhoff had a single, home run and two RBI, Gavin Meinhart two doubles, Andrew Hall and Jackson Icenogle with a single, double and an RBI each, Jason Boerngen with two singles and two RBI and Dominic Ashley with a single and an RBI.
In the other game, Altamont blanked Neoga, 7-0. No other information provided.
The tournament continues Wednesday as Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will be at St. Anthony at 4 p.m. while Altamont heads North Clay also at 4 p.m.
The winners will meet for the championship Saturday at noon while the losers will square off for third place at 10 a.m. Both games will be played at North Clay.
