NEOGA — Effingham St. Anthony opened with a run in the first and went on for a 9-1 victory over Neoga in high school baseball competition Thursday.

The Bulldogs threw four pitchers against the Indians and they combined for 14 strikeouts. Chase Dorris went two innings, giving up one hit and striking out three. Charley Spour went two innings, giving up one run on two hits, one walk and striking out six. Hayden Bushur went two innings, giving up one hit, one walk and striking out three. Freddie Jansen finished out the final inning, giving up one walk and striking out two.

The Bulldogs took the first inning lead and scored over the next three innings.

St. Anthony had 12 hits led by Spour with two doubles, a triple and one RBI, Henry Brent and Will Vonderheide with a double and an RBI each, Bushur with a double, Quinton Stephens with a single and two RBI and Aiden Lauritzen and Xander Beals with a single and an RBI each. Chase Dorris added an RBI.

Neoga had four hits led by Braylon Sparrow with a solo home run.

At Ramsey

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City tallied a 19-8 victory over Ramsey Thursday.

Ramsey moved into a 3-1 opening inning lead but CHBC came roaring back with eight runs in the second, then had a two-run inning in the third and six in the seventh.

The Bobcats had a 12 hit attack and were aided by eight Ramsey errors.

Isaac Wells led the way with a double, home run and five RBI. Ben Askins and Connor Vaughn had a single, double and an RBI each. Casey Macklin added two singles and three RBI while Kale Hardimon finished with a double and an RBI.

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran came calling and blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo by a 5-0 count Thursday.

CORL held a 1-0 lead after three innings then had a four-run seventh.

BSE had five hits, all singles by Dodge Willms, Logan Lach, Lucas Powell, Zayden Gillespie and Calvin Voelker.

Brownstown/St. Elmo dropped to 3-6 on the season and returns to play Saturday against Dieterich.

North Clay easily handled Webber Township (Bluford) Thursday.

The Cardinals won 15-4.

North Clay is now 9-2 on the season and returns to action today against  Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 4:30 p.m.
