 Bulldogs, Cardinals, Cougars, Maroons Pick Up H.S. Baseball Wins

BROWNSTOWN — Ten hits and good pitching led Effingham St. Anthony to a 9-0 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo in high school baseball Tuesday.

The Bulldogs were on offensively with 10 hits but only one of those was for extra bases. Xander Beals had a double. Meanwhile, Chase Dorris finished with two singles and three RBI and Aidan Lauritzen two singles and an RBI. Alex Mayer and Will Bierman finished with a single and an RBI each. Curtis Tingley had an RBI.

Chase Dorris and Hayden Bushur had 11 strikeouts in the contest. Dorris tossed five innings, giving up three hits, one walk and striking out seven for the win. Bushur came on to go the final two innings allowing one hit, one walk and striking out four.

Brownstown/St. Elmo finished with four hits among four players. Jayce Gillespie, Dodge Willms, Logan Lach and Benji Lowe had a single each. BSE is 2-1 in the National Trail Conference and 3-3 overall. The Bombers will be back in action Friday at Altamont in a 4 p.m. contest.

At Altamont

North Clay/Clay City scored six runs in the sixth inning and went on to defeat Altamont 10-0 Tuesday.

The Cardinals got on the board in the top of the first inning after Cayden Craig doubled, scoring a run and Carder Walden also doubled, scoring two runs. Trenton Ingram hit a single to score a run and the Cardinals held a 4-0 lead.

North Clay/Clay City then scored six runs on five hits in the top of the sixth. Cooper Lewis singled, scoring a run, Ian Jones drew a walk that scored a run, Craig singled, scoring a run, Walden doubled scoring two runs and a run tallied on a balk.

Jones earned the win on the mound. He surrendered two hits and no runs over six innings, striking out three and walking none.

Kade Milleville and Zaine Miller had a single for Altamont.

North Clay/Clay City finished with 15 hits in the game. Craig led the way with three singles, a double and two RBI while Walden had two doubles and four RBI, Jack Compton added two doubles, Lewis two singles and an RBI, Trevan Sidwell two singles and Ingram a single and an RBI.

South Central came calling and had two four-run innings in blanking Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 8-0 Tuesday.

The Cougars finished with seven hits and were aided by five CHBC errors.

Ben Askins led the Bobcats with two singles while Daithyn Arnold and Kale Hardimon had a single each.

No information was provided for South Central.

At Dieterich

Dieterich came through with a big six-run fourth inning and claimed a 7-2 win over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Tuesday.

CORL took a 1-0 lead in the second and led 2-1 in the third. But the Maroons came through with the big fourth inning, scoring six runs.

Dominic Ashley and Bryce Bohnhoff provided big hitting for the Maroons. Ashley had a single, home run and two RBI while Bohnhoff had two singles, a triple and three RBI. Traden Kessler added an RBI.

Andrew Hall went the distance on the mound. He gave up two runs on eight hits, two walks while striking out four.

At Dieterich
