GREENVILLE — Effingham St. Anthony opened its stay at the Greenville Junior High Baseball Tournament with a 16-4 pounding of Trenton Wesclin Friday.

The Bullpups broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run third and then had six runs each in the fourth and fifth innings.

St. Anthony’s Sam Vineyard led the 14-hit attack with a single, double, home run and six RBI. Bentley Baudier added a single, double and three RBI, Jaxon Having three singles and an RBI, Reed Schumacher three singles, Parker Phillips a single and two RBI, Eli Bales a single and an RBI, Luke Roewe two RBI and Brooks Niebrugge an RBI.

Roewe went five innings on the mound. He gave up four runs on four hits, four walks while striking out eight.

At Beecher City

Stewardson-Strasburg traveled to Beecher City to take on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and won 16-1 in five innings Friday.

Johnny Richter had a big night at the plate, going three-for-three with a double, triple, home run and five RBI. Noah Friese had a single, double and an RBI, Garrett Worman two singles and an RBI and Jacob Howe a triple and two RBI.

Ty Kramer got the win by tossing three innings and striking out four. Tate Thompson threw the last two innings and struck out six.

Stew-Stras is now 10-1 on the season and 5-1 in the National Trail Conference.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City had two hits, singles by Remington Strange and Luke Roadarmel with an RBI.

At Louisville

Neoga came calling and claimed a 3-1 victory over North Clay Friday.

North Clay dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the National Trail Conference. The team is back in action Tuesday at Altamont in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
