 St. Anthony, Altamont, BSE, Dieterich Claim H.S. Baseball Wins Friday

LOUISVILLE — Effingham  St. Anthony trailed North Clay/Clay City 3-2 after four innings but broke loose with a four-run fifth and went on to claim a 6-3 high school baseball win Friday.

The Bulldogs had seven hits while two pitchers held North Clay/Clay City to three.

Charley Spour went the first two innings. He gave up two runs on two hits, four walks and struck out three. Chase Dorris came on to go five innings, giving up one run, one hit, three walks and striking out three.

Aidan Lauritzen finished with two doubles and an RBI while Alex Mayer added a single, double and an RBI. Xander Beals finished with a single and three RBI.

North Clay/Clay City had three hits led by Cody Zimdars with a double and C. Lewis with a single and an RBI. Jack Compton and Trevan Sidwell had an RBI each.

At Louisville

At Strasburg

Altamont was victorious over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 4-1 Friday.

The Indians got on the board in the second after Kade Milleville doubled, scoring one run.

Grayson McCray singled down the leftfield line, which helped the Hatchets tie the game in the bottom of the second.

In the top of the fifth, Altamont moved ahead after Zaine Miller doubled to centerfield. Brayden Elam and Parker Bell each grounded out, scoring one run.

Miller earned the win for Altamont. He surrendered four hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and did not given up a walk.

Milleville and Miller had two hits each for Altamont. Bell, Milleville, Miller and Elam drove in a run each.

Grayson McCray, Wyatt Wetherell, Oliver Wascher and Carter Verdeyen each collected one hit for the Hatchets. Windsor/Stew-Stras turned a double play and did not commit an error. Derk Freise had the most chances with 10.

At Strasburg

At Cowden

Brownstown/St. Elmo scored a 3-0 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Friday.

BSE moved ahead 1-0 in the fourth and scored two more in the sixth.

Jayce Gillespie tossed a one-hitter for the win on the mound.

BSE was led by Dodge Willms with two singles and Logan Lach with an RBI.

At Dieterich

Dieterich tallied what would prove to be the winning run in the fifth inning as the Maroons edged Neoga, 2-1 Friday.

Dieterich moved ahead 1-0 in the first. Neoga then tied the score at 1-1 in the third.

Both teams had three hits but Neoga finished with three errors.

Leading Dieterich was Dominic Ashley with a double and Gavin Meinhart with a single and an RBI. Bryce Bohnhoff had the other hit, a single

Jackson Icenogle was the winning pitcher. He went 5.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits, four walks while keeping the Maroons off the bases with 12 strikeouts. Bohnhoff contributed three more strikeouts in his 1.1 innings with one walk.

Malik Coy had a single and drove in the lone run for Neoga. Garrett Ballinger and Braylon Sparrow had a single each.
