COWDEN — Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Mulberry Grove 13-1 in the first of two games at its own baseball tournament Saturday.

Tyce Kircher started the game for the Bobcats and earned the win. He gave up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out eight and walking three.

Remington Strange had the lone extra base hit for the Bobcats with a double and an RBI. Curtis Bethal and Ben Noble had a single and an RBI each.

The Bobcats had patience at the plate, earning nine walks for the game. They stole 11 bases with Noble stealing four of those. Tryston Brown stole two bases.

In the second game, Vandalia defeated CHBC, 14-0 to win the championship.

The Bobcats had only one hit, a single by Bethel.

Vandalia’s Lane Cearlock was the winning pitcher. He struck out nine and walked one. Jaxton Carroll had two home runs for the Vandals.

At Toledo

Cumberland moved into a 3-1 opening inning lead and ended the game in the fourth inning with nine runs for a 14-2 victory.

Cumberland finished with 13 hits and Neoga committed six errors. G. Murphy had four singles and two RIB for the winners while B. Clapp had three singles, J. Sherrick two singles and two RBI, A. Dittamore a sigle and three RBI, J. Easton a single and two RBI and T. Holsapple a single and an RBI.

G. Murphy went the four innings, giving up three hits, one walk and striking out eight.

At Robinson

Robinson edged Effingham St. Anthony by a 4-3 count Saturday.

Both teams had four hits but the Bullpups committed four errors. Parker Phillips had a single, double and two RBI to lead St. Anthony.

K. Pasero tossed six innings for Nuttall and gave up three runs on four hits, two walks and struck out seven

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took a 3-0 lead in the third inning and tacked on two more in the fourth. But Mount Zion came back with a run in the fourth and edged the Wooden Shoes with five more in the fifith, 6-5.

Both teams had five hits. T-town was led by Connor Althoff with a single, double and one RBI. Kason Meyer and D. Ruholl had a double each. Meyer added an RBI.

Tolono Unity then captured a 6-0 win over T-town.

The Wooden Shoes could muster only one hit, a single by K. Buenker.

Beau Eisenmenger earned the win for the Rockets, allowing the one hit, walking one and striking out eight.

Stewardson-Strasburg put up seven hits and held South Central to three in a 13-1 victory Saturday.

Two of those seven hits came off the bat of Johnny Richeter who hit two home runs and finished with six RBI. Adam Pruemer added two singles and two RBI. Noah Friese and Jacob Howe had a single and an RBI each.

Stew-Stras took a 4-1 opening inning lead then had an eight run third and tacked on a final run in the fourth.

South Central had three hits led by Kash Hall with a double and S. Kibinski with a single and an RBI.

Tate Thompson claimed the win on the mound, allowing one run on three hits, three walks and striking out three.

Dieterich took a 1-0 lead against Richland County but Olney and went on to claim a 3-2 victory Saturday.

Richland County moved into a 2-1 lead in the top of the third but Dieterich came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Bohnhoff had two singles while Keck added a single and an RBI for the Roadrunners.
