ATLANTA — Seattle Mariners’ Cal Raleigh claimed the All-Star Home Run Derby Monday night.
Raleigh finished with 18 home runs in the final round while Tampa Bay’s Junior Caminero came in second with 15.
The winner of the Home Run Derby leads the league in home runs.
Raleigh and Athletics’ Brent Rooker were tied in Round 1 with 17 home runs apiece. Raleigh won the tiebreaker with his longest home run at 470.61 feet to Rooker’s 470.53.
Raleigh, Caminero, Oneil Cruz and Byron Buxton advanced from Round 1.
Raleigh claimed 54 home runs on the night as his dad Todd Raleigh pitched to him and his younger brother, Todd Raleigh Jr. was the catcher. He is the first switch-hitter and the first catcher to win the Home Run Derby.
