Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers has joined the elite club of pitchers with 3,000 or more strikeouts.
He struck out Vinny Capra of the Chicago White Sox in Wednesday’s 5-4 victory at Dodger Stadium.
He has now become the 20th pitcher to reach that milestone in Major League Baseball.
According to ESPN the list includes only 15 pitchers with 1,000 or more strikeouts:
Nolan Ryan: Holds the all-time record with 5,714 strikeouts
Randy Johnson: Second all-time with 4,875 strikeouts
Roger Clemens: Third all-time with 4,672 strikeouts
Steve Carlton: Fourth all-time with 4,136 strikeouts
Bert Blyleven: Fifth all-time with 3,701 strikeouts
Tom Seaver: Sixth all-time with 3,640 strikeouts
Don Sutton: Seventh all-time with 3,574 strikeouts
Gaylord Perry: Eighth all-time with 3,534 strikeouts
Walter Johnson: Had 3,509 strikeouts.
Greg Maddux: Had 3,371 strikeouts.
Phil Niekro: Had 3,342 strikeouts.
Justin Verlander: Has the most strikeouts among active pitchers with over 3,400.
Max Scherzer: Has over 3,400 strikeouts.
Clayton Kershaw: Has over 3,000 strikeouts.
David Robertson: Achieved 1,000 strikeouts as a reliever,
