ST. LOUIS — The Chicago Cubs lineup came through with a 3-0 win over St. Louis to split the four-game series with two wins each Thursday.
The Cubs’ Shota Imanaga tossed a one-hitter in his five innings after coming off the injured reserve list with a hamstring strain. He improved his record to 4-2 on the season as he gave up one hit, walked one and struck out three.
Meanwhile, the Cubs finished with nine hits. Michael Busch got the Cubs on the board with a solo shot over the right field wall in the second inning. The Cubs added on another run in the fourth. Busch, Carson Kelly and Nico Horner all singled. Then Ian Happ drew a bases loaded walk.
A final run came in the eighth. Pete Crow-Armstrong led off the inning with a single. Dansby Swanson singled and Crow-Armstrong went to third. Swanson headed for second on a steal attempt and hung up the Cardinals as Crow-Armstrong scored.
The Cubs traveled to Houston and will take on the Astros today in a three-game series.
St. Louis will begin a three-game stay at Cleveland, also beginning today.
