 Lake Land College Baseball Team Advances In NJCAA Division I World Baseball Series

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. — Lake Land College has gone through three opponents at the NJCAA Division I World Baseball Series.

The Lakers earned the No. 9 seed in the 2025 JUCO World Series.

Three area players are competing for the Lakers, Nathan Stuemke, a freshman from Altamont, Kayden Althoff, a sophomore from Teutopolis and Noah Dill, a sophomore from Dieterich.

The Lakers opened their stay by pounding Blinn College, 17-9 behind a 21-hit attack.

Stuemke was the catcher. He scored two runs, had two hits and a walk.

Althoff earned the save on the mound, going three innings, allowing three runs, four hits, three walks and striking out six.

In the second contest, Lake Land edged Salt Lake, 11-9.

Stuemke drew a walk and scored a run. Althoff again earned a save, tossing the last inning.

The Lakers then tallied a 20-8 victory over Florence Darlington Technical College.

Stuemke was again the catcher and drew a walk.

Lake Land advances and will face Walters State today. If the Lakers win, they will meet McClennan at 7 p.m. Thursday. If they lose, they will face either Salt Lake or Florence-Darlington at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The tournament continues Friday and will end Saturday with the championship.
