PARIS — Two Effingham St. Anthony pitchers combined to toss a two-hitter Wednesday as the Bulldogs blanked Paris by a 10-0 count in five innings in the Class 2A Paris Baseball Regional.
The Bulldogs stepped out to a 4-0 opening inning lead then tacked on five more in the second. That’s where the scoring stood until St. Anthony ended the contest via the 10-run rule with one in the fifth.
Braddy Hatton went four innings for the win on the mound. He gave up one hit, two walks and struck out three. Aidan Lauritzen came on to throw the final inning, giving up one hit, one walk and striking out one.
Hatton aided his own cause offensively with two singles, a double and an RBI. Brock Fearday had a single, double and two RBI. Henry Brent finished with two singles and an RBI. Will Fearday contributed two singles while Samuel Link had a single and four RBI. Lauritzen and Alex Mayer finished with a single and an RBI each.
In the second contest, Marshall defeated Lawrenceville, 6-4.
St. Anthony and Marshall will meet for the regional championship Saturday in a 10 a.m. contest.

Class 2A Newton Regional
Teutopolis and Newton will be meeting for the championship of the Newton Regional after both teams tallied entirely different victories Wednesday.
Teutopolis opened by trouncing Flora by a 16-0 count in four innings.
The Wooden Shoes held a 4-0 opening inning lead then tacked on six runs in the second and third innings respectively.
T-town had 12 hits led by Davin Worman with a single, triple, home run and two RBI, Michael Niebrugge with a single, two doubles and an RBI and Aidan Niemerg with a single, double and four RBI. Gavin Addis finished with a single and three RBI while Dawson Hoene and Carter Hoene added a single and an RBI each. Jason Kreke finished with an RBI.
Addis went the four innings on the mound. He gave up three hits, no walks and struck out eight.
Flora finished the season with an 8-14 record while T-town improved to 25-5.
In the second contest, Newton edged Robinson by a 4-3 tally.
Robinson took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. The Maroons then pushed that to 3-1 in the top of the fifth but Newton came back to tie the score in the bottom of the frame.
The Eagles then won with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Dexter Fulton led off with a double and took third on a passed ball. David Ferguson drew a walk and Quincy Fulton was intentionally walked to load the bases. Drake Wolf then hit a sacrifice fly to score D. Fulton for the win.
Newton finished with eight hits. Gavin Meinhart finished with three singles and an RBI. Fulton added two doubles. Drake Wolf contributed a single and an RBI.
Carter Barthelme started the game on the mound. He went 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, one walk and striking out three. Hayden Mulvey then came on to toss 2.1 innings for the victory. He gave up three hits, no walks and struck out one.
Teutopolis (25-5) will meet Newton (17-14) at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.

Class 1A Dieterich Regional
Dieterich scored in the first inning and that’s all the Maroons needed for a 1-0 victory over Edwards County (Albion) in its own regional Wednesday.
The Maroons finished with six hits. Landen Keck had two singles while Jackson Icenogle had a single and finished with the lone RBI of the contest. Gavin Meinhart, Andrew Hall and Jaxon Funneman added a single each.
Hall went six innings for the pitching win. He gave up three hits, four walks and struck out five. Meinhart came on to toss the final inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.
In the second contest, Casey-Westfield defeated Altamont, 4-2. No other information was provided.
Dieterich now faces Casey-Westfield Saturday at 10 a.m. for the regional championship.

Class 1A South Central Regional
North Clay/Clay City and South Central, two National Trail Conference teams, will be meeting for the championship of the Class 1A South Central Regional after both teams were victorious Wednesday.
North Clay/Clay City opened by bouncing Cisne to the tune of 14-0. No other information was provided.
In the second game, South Central downed Red Hill (Bridgeport), 10-3.
The two teams were tied at 2-2 after the first inning. The Cougars then put together four runs in the second and had two-run innings in the fourth and sixth.
Along with the 10 runs, South Central finished with 10 hits. Zane Montes hit the long ball with a double and home run. He finished with three RBI. Chase Guerrettaz added a single and double while Trevan Sidwell had a double and two RBI. Evan Hoover finished with two singles and four RBI. Luke Shumate had a single and an RBI.
Sidwell was the winning pitcher. He went 3.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits, two walks and striking out five. Montes finished off going 3.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits, one walk and striking out seven.

Class 1A Pawnee Regional
Neoga captured a 6-0 victory over Edinburgh Co-op in the first game Wednesday at the Class 1A Pawnee Regional.
In the second contest, Pawnee easily won over Springfield Lutheran Co-op, 9-0.
Neoga and Pawnee will now square off for the championship at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Class 1A Bethany Okaw Valley Regional
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Moweaqua Central A&M by an 11-0 score Wednesday.
No other information was provided.
Today’s contest features Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City against Nokomis at 4:30 p.m.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will meet the winner of the CHBC vs. Nokomis game for the regional championship at 10 a.m. Saturday.
