David Ronald Mahon, age 77, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away Sunday, May 4, at his home.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois with a visitation two hours prior to service. Rev. Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may go to Pleasant Grove Cemetery, or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.pagelfuneralhome.com.
David was born on June 24, 1947, in Lone Grove Township, Illinois, the son of Harold and Edith (Ahlmann) Mahon. He married Kathleen Michel on June 12, 1966, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter Illinois. He retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections after twenty years of service. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, joking around, and “getting people going”. His greatest love of all was spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his sons, David Mahon, Jr. of Shobonier; Matthew Mahon (fiancé Amber Huddlestun) of Waterloo; and daughter, Michele (Glenn) Helbig of Okawville; grandchildren, Alexis Helbig, Austin Helbig, Patience Nelson, and Amira Mahon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edith Mahon; wife, Kathleen Mahon; brothers, James, Dean, and Charlie Mahon; and sister, Mary Mahon.
