Charles “Charley/Chuck” William Bosley, Jr. (79) of Greenup

Charles “Charley/Chuck” William Bosley Jr., 79, of Greenup passed away peacefully at 8:10 pm on Monday, May 11, 2026, to be with his heavenly father surrounded by family and friends, at HSHS St. Anthony’s  Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday May 30, 2026, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, with Pastor Roger James officiating. A memorial visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am until service time also at the funeral chapel.

Charles was born on March 20, 1947, in Mattoon, IL, to Charles William and Leola (Spurling) Bosley, Sr. He married Linda Diane Bateson on March 6, 1966, they spent 60 years together.

Survivors include son Charles (Chuck) William Bosley III; daughter Gina (Stanley) Quick; grandchildren Curtis (Anyessa) Bosley and John (Andrea) Phillips; great-grandchildren Carlee, Grayson, Elanor, and Ruger Bosley, and one Phillips baby on the way; special aunt Betty Reed; sisters Charlene McElravy, Connie (Bobby) Aquarre, and Marilyn Painter; sisters-in-law Margie (Terry) Moore, Cindy (Roger) Cook, Lois Martin, Lisa (Lenny) Theoele, Frank (Dale) Fulk, Tony Fulk, and Diane Miselbrook; and brother-in-law Danny (Connie) Basham; he also fostered many kids over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margie Thompson, Brenda Bosley, Betty Sexton, and Nancy Kingery; in-laws Perry Martin, Tom (Mary) Holste, Daniel Reed, Bob Bateson, and aunt Kathryn Schoonover.

Charles worked many years as a meat cutter and on the side loved helping friends and family butcher and cutup their meat. He also worked for Trailmobile, and Great Dane, where he retired. In his younger years, he loved to fish and deer hunt. His best past time was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed rooting for the Cubs and collecting his Coca Cola, and listening to his old-time country songs. He also loved working in the flower and vegetable gardens in his yard. He was a long time member at the Jewett Community Church and was currently attending the New Hope Church in Liberty Hill.
