Jimmie Allen “Jim” Tuttle, age 81, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 10:45 PM – Tuesday, April 6, 2026, at HSHS Saint Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM (Noon) on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Graveside service will follow at the Hunt Cemetery near Yale, Illinois, with Zeb Myers and Rick Britton officiating. In loving memory of Jim, memorials may be made to the Hidalgo Baptist Church. Jimmie Allen, better known to his family and friends as Jim, was born on December 26, 1944, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Otis Tuttle and Alice (Strong) Tuttle. He married Nancy Piecefield on December 19, 1965, in Newton, Illinois, and she survives. Jim worked Jesse B. Holt, Inc. in Newton for 33 years. He started as a truss builder, later a foreman, and finished as a sawer. He was an honest, truthful man. When he spoke, he meant what he said. No backing down. Jim loved the Lord and going to church. Jim enjoyed crafts, building furniture, doing puzzles and was a forever Chicago Bears fan. Every weekday he watched The Price is Right and played along. His love for his family was so important, and he enjoyed time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his faithful companion Willow.

Jim is survived by: Wife of 60 years – Nancy Tuttle; Children – Jim Tuttle, Jr of Salem, Oregon; Ray (Tonia) Tuttle of Newton, Illinois; and Donna Browning of Olney, Illinois; Grandchildren – Rodney (Tosh), Brandon, Kimberly (Josh) and Anna; Great Grandchildren – Aiden, Blake, Charly Jo, Hayden, Gannon, Kaysen, Avery, Kirra, Emmalee, and Amyah

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Otis R. Tuttle, II, sisters Terri Ann Ropp and Nancy (Max) Addis and son-in-law Joe Browning.
