Rodney Dale Auton, age 62, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away on April 3, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Rodney was born on March 7, 1964, in Batavia, Illinois.

Rodney was an outdoor type of man. He loved anything that he could do to be outside. He loved and spent many hour looking for mushrooms, harvesting ginseng, and finding arrowheads, of which he had a nice size collection. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He carved many of his own hunting bows that he used in hunting. He worked in the oil fields, carpentry and roofing, and any job that kept him outside. He had a strong faith and was baptized at the Old Union Christian Church in Bible Grove, Illinois.

Rodney is survived by: His mother and step-father: Violet and Don Lilley of Louisville, Illinois; sisters: Ann (Ron) Shanafelt of Centralia, Illinois, Teena Taylor of Louisville, Illinois and Emily (Mark) Hahn of Claremont, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father Dallas Auton and brother Gerald Auton.
