Deloris Bergfeld, 82, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Effingham Health and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lillyville. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday April 6, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Per Deloris’ wishes, she will be cremated after the services and burial will be at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Lillyville. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Dementia Society of America. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Deloris was born on September 18, 1943, in Jasper County, IL, the daughter of Louis and Marie (Hardiek) Haarman. She married Bernard Bergfeld on May 5, 1962 at St. Joseph’s Church, Island Grove. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2022.
Deloris was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lillyville where she was a member of the CCW, she also was a former Catholic Charities Board member. Deloris loved to piece quilts, sew, read, play dominoes, diamond dots, and puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Deloris also enjoyed tying knots with the knotty ladies.
Deloris is survived by her son, Gary (wife Elaine) of Teutopolis; daughters, Carla Nosbisch (husband Lyle) of Teutopolis, Amy Meinhart (husband Brad) of Effingham, and Kathy Miller of Highland; grandchildren: Derek (Maci) Meinhart, Brittany (Dylan) Field, Mitch (Lynae) Meinhart, Wyatt Goeckner, Abbey (Ryan) Armstrong, Justin Miller, Lauren and Jake Bergfeld; step-grandchildren: Chad (Dani) Nosbisch, Nikki (Mitch) Lustig, and Mitch (Shelby) Nosbisch; great-grandchildren: Quincy, Will, and Elise Meinhart, Dawson and Bennett Meinhart; step-great-grandchildren: Beau and Evy Nosbisch, Hutch, Sylvie and Duke Lustig, Ryerson, Maverick, and Maevereigh Nosbisch; sister, Marcella Bierman, Marilyn (Ed) Smithenry, Linda Streich, and Diana (Richard) Worman; sister-in-law, Wanda Haarman; and brother-in-law, Mike Smithenry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; son, Tom; brothers, Leroy Haarman, David Haarman, and Bobby Haarman; sisters, Betty Smithenry and Evelyn Haarman; and brother-in-law, Art Bierman.
