Laura J. “Jeanie” Langford, 78, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026 at her home in Dieterich.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial to follow in Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to time of service, Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Jeanie was born February 11, 1947 in Effingham, the daughter of Charles Sapp and Margaret (Donaldson) Blankenship. She married Donald Langford on October 15, 1981and he preceded her in death in 2015. Jeanie worked for many years as a waitress, but her proudest role was being a mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest blessing, and her love for them knew no bounds.
Jeanie is survived by her children, Corinna (Mike) McChuen of Watson, Brian (Bobbie) Colclasure of Effingham, Brad (Kristi) Colclasure of Dieterich, Kelly (Michael) Langford-Bussell of Dieterich, Scott (Brittany) Langford of Effingham, Angie (James) Hudson of Washington, and Becky Langford of Pekin; brother, Gary (Linda) Smith of Mobile, AL; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Smith; and granddaughter, Nicole.
