Donald Wayne Frey age 65, of McLeansboro, Illinois formerly of Newton, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center, Marion, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded to Mr. Frey. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Donald was born on February 29, 1960, in Decatur, Illinois the son of Lowell E. “Gene” and Viola Evelyn (Edwards) Frey. Donald attended S.E.S.E. in St. Marie, where he earned his high school diploma. He worked at The Workshop in Fairfield, Illinois for many years.
He is survived by his father, Lowell E. “Gene” Frey of Newton; brother, Russell Frey of Newton and sister, Kathy E. Drewes, husband William of Annapolis, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Frey and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
