Ronald Lee Hartke, 75, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Ronald was born on April 14, 1950, in Bishop Creek, the son of Andrew and Genevieve (Miller) Hartke. Ron graduated from Teutopolis High School Class of 1968 and earned an associate’s degree from Lake Land College. He married Mary Lynn Nuxoll on March 7, 1970.
Ron worked for the Equity all his life, retiring as the Dieterich, IL, Plant Manager. He was a member of St. Francis Church in Teutopolis and a 3 rd Degree member of Teutopolis Knights of Columbus #2874.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Ron was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed building furniture for family. He also enjoyed helping with local breakfasts and events that supported local charities. Above all else, Ron’s granddaughters were his pride and joy.
Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Lynn Hartke; sons, Tony Hartke and Nick (Amanda) Hartke; granddaughters, Allie Marie Hartke and Kaylin Elizabeth Hartke; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George (Colleen) Nuxoll, Thomas (Louise) Nuxoll, Raymond (Jan) Nuxoll, Lisa (Ron) Blythe, and Diana Nuxoll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Sue Ann (Andrew) Willenborg, John (Carol Ann) Hartke, Carl Jean (Jerry) Brant, Nancy Spelbring, Judy Reeder, and Marilyn June Hartke; and brother-in-law, Russ Nuxoll.
