Deanne Dawn “D.D.” Metz age 53, of Newton passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at her residence.
Cremation rites will be accorded to Deanne per her wishes. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the American Legion, 108 E. Jourdan St, Newton, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Deanne was born on August 30, 1972, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Roy Elvin and Rebecca Sue (Strong) Metz. Following high school, Deanne became a certified nurse’s aide. Deanne devoted her life to being a mom. She was the devoted softball mom, attending all the games and cheering on her kids. Having a big heart and unending love, Deanne helped raise the many kids in her midst. She gave her love, acceptance and forgiveness to those around her. Having a heart of gold, she was always willing to help others. She was a dog lover, especially her chihuahuas. M&M’s were her candy of choice, Dr. Pepper her favorite drink and she kept a freezer full of popsicles for all of the kids. Devoted to her extended family, she never missed a holiday. A loving mom, grandmother, sister, niece and the best of friends, Deanne will be loved and missed by
many.
Deanne leaves behind her children, Zachary K. LeeRoy Metz of Newton, Hope-Annette Lynnett Metz (Jeremy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Montana Nikole Ochs (Dakota) of St. Marie, Taylor Marie Tarpley (Tyler) of Olney and Irelynne Leann Ochs of Newton; grandchildren, Deene Elvin Metz, Ozzy Zayne White, Paxton Lee Eugene Batzell, Presley Nikole Batzell, Travette James Tarpley, Tripp James Tarpley and Tuff James Tarpley; sister, Corrine C. Metz of BFE, Jasper Co; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her parents Roy and Rebecca Metz preceded her in death.
