Dorothy Marie McElravy, 90, of Effingham, formerly of Toledo, passed away at 1:39 am on Tuesday January 6, 2026, at the Villas of Holly Brook in Effingham.
Funeral Services will be at 12:00 pm noon, on Saturday January 10, 2026, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday also at the funeral chapel. The Burial will be in the Friends Grove Cemetery in rural Toledo.
Dorothy was born on August 5, 1935, in Trowbridge, IL to Glen and Leota (Cordes) Soliday. She married William “Bill” McElravy on December 13, 1953. He preceded her in 2020.
Survivors include sons, William E. (Angela) McElravy and Bryan (Anna) McElravy; daughter Marie (Brad) Fitch; grandchildren Clayton (Megan) McElravy, Andrew (Haley) McElravy, Rachel Whitney, Amber (Jesse) Sutton, Kyle McElravy (Misty Dahman), Kaleb (Ashley) McElravy, Kelsey (Nick) Nichols, Michael (Jade) Rook, Jennifer (Dusty) Hickox, Bryce (Jennifer) Fitch and Chelsea (Nathan) Messmer; great grandchildren Layla, Vince, and Lance McElravy, Ava Rook (Dalton Roberts), Kendall, Taylor and Henli Rook, Sage and Ridge Burton, Dallas, Hunter, Mackinley, Allyvia, Emmy, Huxlee, and Naomi Hickox, Achillez, Nottus, and Rhea Sutton, Kaysen and Kendall “Della Rae” Whitney, Evelyn and Gabrielle McElravy, Maddison McElravy, Eden and Blythe Fitch, Max and Mae Messmer, Ethan Hatcher, Jackson Daham, Keira Dahman, Rowan and Jameson Nichols; Abner and Eland Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother Leroy Soliday and sisters Charolette Carrell and Hazel Fuller.
Dorothy was a homemaker and had also worked at Elmer’s Grocery and Western Auto in Greenup. She was a member of the Greenup VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy and Bill enjoyed many fishing trips to Arroyo, Texas. She was always happy to babysit her grandchildren and had her famous baked cookies ready for them. Dorothy’s family extends their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Villas of Holly Brook for the care and compassion provided to their mother over the past three and a half years.
