Our precious rose, Remi Rose Ann Bly, blessed us with her presence on February 20, 2025, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was the cherished daughter of Ethan Bly and Gabriel Diener. Remi’s journey on this earth may have been brief, as she passed on December 27, 2025, in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, Illinois, but her gentle spirit and the joy she brought to those around her will be eternally remembered and celebrated. Remi’s radiant smile and infectious laughter brought immeasurable happiness to her family.
She is survived by her father, Ethan Bly of Shelbyville; mother, Gabriel Diener of Shelbyville; her proud grandparents, Jerry and Tammy Bly of Shelbyville, Jeffrey and Isabel Diener of Pana, and Trina Smith of Sullivan; her great-grandparents, William Bly of Shelbyville, William and Roberta Palmer of Luana, Iowa, Steve and Cathy Cox of Jourdanton, Texas, Dennis Diener of Arcola, Joyce Diener of Mattoon, and Karen Scribner of Sullivan. She will also be fondly remembered by her aunts and uncles, Chase and Ariel Quick of Shelbyville, Bailey Bly and Ashley Nugent of Argenta, and Isabelle Bly and Nail Onyx of Effingham; her three cousins, Aurora, Calliope, and Aubrey Quick; and her great aunts and uncles, William and Trisha Bly of Henderson, Nevada, Sherry Bly of Shelbyville, Robin Bly of Kyle, Texas, Jeff and Shannon Bly of Henderson, Nevada, Kenny Bly of Shelbyville, Ryan Diener and Jenny Jourgenson of Bloomington, Joshua Diener of Arcola, Nicholas Diener of Arcola, and Sydney Diener of Mattoon. Each one had a unique and special bond with Remi that they will carry in their hearts forever.
Remi was preceded in death by her grandmother, Linda Bly, who surely welcomed her with open arms to a place of peace and love.
The family will gather to honor and celebrate Remi’s life in a funeral service to be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Following the service, a dinner will be held at the Shelbyville First Church of the Nazarene, where all are welcome to join in fellowship and remembrance of Remi. Those attending the dinner are kindly asked to bring a dish to pass if possible. For those who wish to express their sympathy in the form of a gift, the family kindly requests funeral fund donations. Your generosity is deeply appreciated in this difficult time. Donations may be mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.
In the brief time Remi graced this world, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of loving her. Her light will continue to shine brightly through the love she inspired and the memories she created. Remi Rose Ann Bly, a beautiful angel gone too soon, will never be forgotten.
